2.2 The Proposer of CR020A explains that SMICoP Drafting includes some of the qualifications needed by Smart Installers before undertaking work, and how certain actions are mandated in order that Supplier Member of the code can prove the qualifications are held/can be verified for each Installer . One such qualification under Gas Safe and GB Legislation, is Gas Safe Registration and relevant ID Card. Current demand to obtain Gas Safe ID cards across the UK has roused when the “Corgi” was disbanded and “Gas Safe” replaced it. The implementation of the Corgi change meant the demand, across the country, for the Gas Safe ID Card outstripped delivery, leading to delays in receipt (running from days to, in some cases, months). When drafting this code, it was assumed that this hiatus was due to a specific issue and not likely to be faced again. This now feels like an erroneous assumption. The delay in receipt of the Gas Safe ID Card is not something which a SMICoP Member can influence a swift resolution to.
